Welcome

Open Intro was started with one goal in mind: create a free and open source introductory statistics textbook. PDF downloads and distribution will be free and unrestrained, and the source of the book will also be released under Creative Commons for other educators to create their own versions.

Chapter releases will begin in Fall 2009 in beta form; a draft book for a 10 week course will be released by the end of the Spring 2010; and the source will be released in Summer 2011 along with a formal First Edition of the book, which will include text for a 15 week course. We will post information both to this blog and to our website at openintro.org.

As this project advances, we look forward to connecting with educators who have interest in Open Intro. Comments, questions, and discussions are needed to help ensure this project reaches its potential.
